AIMS AND SCOPE

Acta virologica is an international journal of predominantly molecular and cellular virology. Acta virologica aims to publish papers reporting original results of fundamental and applied research mainly on human, animal and plant viruses at cellular and molecular level. As a matter of tradition, also rickettsiae are included. Areas of interest are virus structure and morphology, molecular biology of virus-cell interactions, molecular genetics of viruses, pathogenesis of viral diseases, viral immunology, vaccines, antiviral drugs and viral diagnostics. Papers describing new methods without application to research are not accepted. Also papers with preliminary or inconclusive data or with data only slightly differing from previously published ones are not accepted too. The submission of a manuscript to Acta virologica implies that (i) it has not been previously published elsewhere except in abstract form, (ii) it is not being submitted for publication elsewhere, and (iii) its submission for publication has been approved by all authors.  Original experimental papers may have the form of full-length articles, short communications or letters to the editor. Besides them also review articles, book reviews, announcements and reports on various scientific events are accepted.
