Ekologia - Submission guidelines

Ekológia (Bratislava)

publishes original research papers, book reviews . Manuscripts are accepted provided that they have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts are reviewed by two independent reviewers. Papers accepted for publication by the editorial board are subject to editorial revision.

Copyright

A copy of the Publishing agreement will be sent to authors of papers accepted for publication. It is the responsibility of the author to obtain written permission for quotation and for reproducing illustrations and tables from other published material.

First submission of the manuscript

For coloured figures the author will be charged 240€/ 1pages. Manuscripts

should be written in clear, concise and gramatically correct English and not exceed 25 pages including tables and figures. In case the author translates the text himself, at the end of the text there should be the name of the person revising it. The printout should be typed in A4 format, type size 12 font Times New Roman, double space lines, 3 cm margins. Figures and tables ought to be on a separate sheet of paper. It is advisable to consult the latest issue of Ekológia (Bratislava) for format. Inappropriate manuscripts will be returned to author without review. The order of the material should be as follows:

Heading

– title (short, bold face, capital letters), author(s) name(s) (full, capital letters, font size 12), address(es), telephone and fax number, e-maill 

Abstract

– should not exceed 20 lines

Key words

– should not exceed six, not including words appearing in the title

The main text

should be divided into sections, normally to Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion. Appendix (if any), Tables, Figure captions. Example how to cite references in the text are Dlapa (2003); (Dlapa, 2003); Dlapa, Kollár (2003); (Dlapa, Kollár, 2003); Dlapa et al. (2003); (Dlapa et al. 2003)

Generic and specific names must be cited completely (including author,s abbreviation) once in each paper and should be typed in italics.
Scientific plant names should be abbreviated in conformity with the Authors of Plant Names, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Brummit, Powell, 1992). Scientific names of animals (in Italics) and authorities must be spelled out the first time a species is mentioned in a paper (except for Linnaeus and Fabricius, which can be abbreviated as L. and F., respectively).

Acknowledgements

(if any) are placed before the references.

References

– should follow the general style as illustrated below:

The names of authors should be arranged chronologically and alphabetically. Titles of paper must be given in English (in brackets the language of the original). Abbreviations of journal titles should follow the BIOSIS format. If not sure about the abbreviation, give the full title of the journal.

Tables

should be self-explanatory. They should be mentioned in the text and numbered consecutively. Tables will be reproduced in the journal in the format presented in the final submission. Illustrations should not be submitted in a format exceeding the A4 page size.

Instead of Reprints authors will have a hard copy of the journal and the paper in pdf format.
