Title: Organ ako významný kultúrny činiteľ v hudobnom živote Nitry

Abstract: The study focuses on the organ culture in the city of Nitra, briefly presenting important organists and organ-builders working in the territory of the city and paying attention to the existing organ festivals of the town. The contribution presents eight most important pipe organs of the city of Nitra from the historical, constructional and acoustic-aesthetic viewpoints. The organs are situated in these sacred buildings: St. Emmeram’s Cathedral, Church of St. Peter and Paul, Church of St. Ladislav, Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Church of the Reformed Christian Church, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and Church of St. Urban on Zobor. For each instrument we offer historical circumstances of the development of the building and reconstruction of the particular organ, the current technical condition, description and disposition of the instrument supplemented with photo-documentation.
