Abstract: FULFILLING DEVELOPMENTAL TASKS IN LATE ADOLESCENCE AND EMERGING ADULTHOOD AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH LIFE SATISFACTION AND MEANING IN LIFE The adolescence period has now become more complicated and the fulfilment of developmental tasks has been moved to the age limit of thirty. Fulfilment of developmental tasks can improve life satisfaction and increase meaning in life. The goal of the study was to investigate the relationship between developmental tasks of adolescence and emerging adulthood and life satisfaction and meaning in life in a group of high school and university students and young adults up to thirty years old who had completed their education. The research sample consists of 418 respondents. A newly developed Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood Developmental Tasks Fulfilment Questionnaire, The Satisfaction with Life Scale by Diener et al. and The Meaning in Life Questionnaire by Steger et al. were used. The results suggest that satisfaction with life and presence of meaning in life are positively related to the fulfilment of some developmental tasks, especially career, career orientation, relationship with partner and self-acceptance. Relationship with opinion autonomy from parents is negative. Different developmental tasks are important in different age groups. |
