Abstract: ACCOMPANYING A GRIEVING CHILD IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
Abstract: The case study deals with the issue of sadness of children after losing their parent while accompanying them in the school environment. The aim is to clarify the process of grief, needs and manifestations after the loss of a loved one and to point out a comprehensive system of care for such a child. Loss of a loved one and experiencing traumatic sadness can also be an opportunity to increase resilience in these children with supportive school strategies. The analysis of the therapeutic process, documents and interviews with the child, teachers and parents highlights the importance of school support, recognition of the special educational needs of the grieving child, close teamwork and classroom resilience environment, in-service training for teachers and school staff, and in schools.
