Abstract: CAUSES, SYMPTOMS AND CONSEQUENCES OF ADHD SYNDROME Abstract: ADHD is a relatively common neurodevelopmental disorder whose symptoms and causes are highly variable. It affects various mental functions as well as social behavior, and consequently also the child’s position in school and peer group. Its manifestations change during development depending on the maturation of the brain and the requirements that are placed on individuals of a given age. The aim of the article is to map the various manifestations of ADHD and their impact on the child’s life and self-esteem. An overview of possible structural and functional changes in the brain that contribute to the development of ADHD may also assist in better understanding of this disorder. |
