| Abstract: DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING OF CHILDREN IN PRE-PRIMARY EDUCATION Abstract: The authors developed a screening tool that can be used by kindergarten teacher (or other person providing a child’s pre-primary education) to monitor and record the aspects of child’s development important as indicators of his/her readiness to enter school during the preschool year. In the study, in which seven pre-school kindergarten classes and 135 children were involved, reliability of the instrument and its sensitivity to developmental changes were verified. The authors developed norms in the form of a three-point assessment of the child for twelve competence areas. The screening tool is available on the website, from where the user manual and recording sheet can be downloaded in two versions. The Excel version directly scores the recorded data. |
