Title: SKÚSENOSTI S NENÁVISTNÝMI PREJAVMI NA INTERNETE VO VZŤAHU S AGRESIVITOU A AKTIVISTICKÝMI A RADIKALISTICKÝMI ZÁMERMI MLADÝCH ĽUDÍ NA SLOVENSKU
Author: Jarmila Zsírosová, Robert Tomšik

Abstract: EXPERIENCES WITH ONLINE HATE SPEECH IN RELATION TO AGGRESSION AND ACTIVISM AND RADICALISM INTENTION OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN SLOVAKIA
Abstract: The subject of the study was to find out what experiences Slovak students have with hateful content and communication on the Internet and what the relationship of these variables is with aggression and activism and radicalism intention of an individual. The research variables were measured using the Hate Content and Communication on the Internet questionnaire (NOKI) developed by the authors, the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), and Activism and Radicalism Intention Scales (ARIS). A total of 946 respondents aged 14-21 took part in the research, of which 72% were females. Hateful content and communication on the Internet were encountered at least once by 86.8 % of respondents, and more than five times by 42.1 %. A notable portion, 38.8 % of respondents reported being victims of hateful content and communication. Approximately 22.1 % stated that they wrote a hateful message at least once, and 11.3 % of respondents created hateful content at least once. Hateful content and communication were most often directed at an individual/group for reasons of sexual orientation, appearance, race, political opinions, or other reasons. Passive experience with hate content on the Internet correlated with all investigated variables except the radicalism scale. Active experience (creation of hateful content) correlated statistically significantly with all investigated variables, including radicalism, correlation with the activism scale was negative.
