Author: HÜSEYIN ÇAKSEN

Abstract: THE EFFECTS OF RELIGIOSITY/SPIRITUALITY ON MENTAL HEALTH IN CZECH ADOLESCENTS
Abstract: Religion, religiosity and spirituality represent a very important aspect of life in the majority of existing cultures around the world. Religion is the belief in an ever-living God, who is ruling the universe and holding moral relations with mankind. Religiosity (also called religiousness) is defined as an individual’s conviction, devotion, and veneration towards God and diligently fulfilling the orders of religion. Spirituality is a state that a person feels by acting in accordance with transcendental principles, or God’s commandments. Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. The author discusses the effects of religiosity/spirituality on mental health in Czech adolescents to attract attention to the importance of religiosity/spirituality.
