Title: PERCEPTION OF ACOUSTIC PULSE TRAINS IN DICHOTIC LISTENING TASK: A COMPARISON WITH NEURONAL NETWORK MODEL
Author: Fedor JAGLA, Jan JENCA, Mariana JERGELOVA, Juraj PAVLASEK
Abstract: The auditory discrimination of three acoustic pulse trains with 20, 30 and 50 ms interpulse intervals (with Poisson distribution of pulses) was studied by means of the dichotic listening procedure. An easier discrimination of the pulse train with short interpulse intervals was found in a group of 15 righthanded volunteers. The possible role of certain Gestalt phenomenon in auditory perception of temporally patterned nonverbal stimuli is suggested, as are also the roles of brain hemispheres in relation to the functional brain asymmetry; auditory lateralization was present as well. The results confirmed the neuronal network model.
