Title: INTERCULTURAL DIFFERENCES IN INTELLIGENCE IN THE MIRROR OF EUROPEAN WISC-III STANDARDIZATIONS
Author: Vladimir DOCKAL
Abstract: The study compares national versions of the WISC-III and the results of standardizing researches carried out in Great Britain, German-speaking countries, the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. It brings support to the fact that despite a common cultural space in the European Union, differences exist in the intellectual abilities of children of the groups surveyed. They may be ascribed to the different traditions and primarily to the different school systems existing in various countries. These facts are to be taken into account when intelligence is being measured and this also when nonverbal testing tasks are used.
